- Can you add our existing locks to a master key system?
In many cases yes, depending on the lock brand and cylinder type. Some budget-grade locks are not compatible with master key pinning. We assess on site or can advise if you tell us the lock brand.
- How many levels of master key can the system have?
Most small to medium commercial systems have two levels: a master key and individual keys. Larger systems can accommodate sub-master keys (e.g. a floor manager key that opens only a subset of locks). We design the appropriate hierarchy for your needs.
- What if I lose the master key?
A lost master key is a significant event and should be treated as a full rekey — the same as losing a key to a house, but at larger scale. We advise keeping the master key in a secure, documented location and restricting who has access to it.
